| Just want to update you on my plans and how I can be reached.... Leaving for Costa Rica on Nov 15 th, returning early April.....here is where I will be staying at least for the first month. Located in Alajuela in the Central Valley.not exactly the most beautiful area, but figure it is a good jumping off spot to explore the countryl Getting phase 2 of my dental work done in late December..Hooray... I"ll have TEETH... Plan to do a lot of exploring and decide if I want to relocate there permanently... Costa Rica is becoming a lot less Gringo friendly with residency income requirements, car import fees ( 70% - OUCH ) etc....so hoping to take exploratory trips to Panama and Ecuador ( which is becoming the new Costa Rica ).....if I end up on Ecuador, for example, I should be able to save enough to come visit you guys ( Tod , Scott, and Cam ) and my grandchildren before they are completely grown up. Have a great Landlady here in NC which is allowing me to make the trip....she knows that I freeze my butt off in the winter and have $400-450 electric bills to heat my 100+ year old log cabin.... So, she is waiving my rent while I'm gone....so, I will save on electric, cable tv, internet, tivo, cell phone, gas for my car and food... my rent is going to be less than I am paying here and includes everything but food... so I should be able to do some traveling and save some. Best way to reach me will be via Skype @ rbdeery.... unfortunately, my Droid won't work there... pickedup a cheap GSM phone for local calls.... my Costa Rica number is 8536-1957 or from the US- 011-506-8536-1957. May get a US Skype number so that calls will be local vs International rates... Had planned to take my dog, but turned out it would cost me a small fortune to get her there and back....have worked out a deal with a gal that used to work for my vet and knows Koala... Looking forward to learning a little Spanish and experiencing a new culture and lifestyle...
